Quad. Slang. 27-04-2011.

quad (1) British English
Meaning: an open space between buildings, usually at a school or a university
For example:
  • I'll meet you in the quad at lunchtime.
  • The school's headmaster has decided that handball can longer be played in any of the quads.
Origin: short for "quadrangle"
Variety: This slang is typically used in British English but may be used in other varieties of English too.
