Fernando Olivera: El rapto.- TEXT FROM THE NOVEL The goldfinch by Donna Tartt (...) One night we were in San Antonio, and I was having a bit of a melt-down, wanting my own room, you know, my dog, my own bed, and Daddy lifted me up on the fairgrounds and told me to look at the moon. When "you feel homesick", he said, just look up. Because the moon is the same wherever you go". So after he died, and I had to go to Aunt Bess -I mean, even now, in the city, when I see a full moon, it's like he's telling me not to look back or feel sad about things, that home is wherever I am. She kissed me on the nose. Or where you are, puppy. The center of my earth is you". The goldfinch Donna Tartt 4441 English edition

Sustainable tourism: reading practice

Sustainable tourism can be defined as ‘tourism which meets the needs of present tourists and host regions while protecting and enhancing opportunities for the future’ or ‘protecting the natural and cultural environment of your destination’. Sustainable tourism means in no way that we should not travel and explore the world, but it advocates that in doing so we take into consideration the impact that travel has. This can relate to the journey itself, but also, critically, to the area being visited.
Many poor areas of the world rely on tourism to sustain the local economy but sustainable tourism ensures that this is not to the detriment of the local culture, environment and heritage. It is important to respect the traditions and culture of anywhere you visit and to leave them unspoiled for future generations, both in terms of the local population and future tourists.
