The United Nations Human Rights Council has voted to condemn Syria for what it called “gross and systematic violations of human rights.” The condemnation came in a resolution Friday. The resolution establishes the position for a special investigator to examine human rights abuses in Syria. However, it does not ask the Security Council for additional action. Thirty-seven members of the Human Rights Council voted for the resolution. Russia, Cuba, China and Ecuador voted against it. Six other nations did not vote.
